The American Wine Society Announces This Years National Conference Location

The American Wine Society (AWS), the nation's largest consumer-based wine organization, has selected Kalahari Resort in Sandusky, Ohio, as the site of its 46th annual conference Nov. 7 through 9, 2013.

"Kalahari's Conference Center has a great layout for an AWS Conference," stated John Hames, Executive Director of AWS. "The northern Ohio location provides easy access for AWS members from all parts of the country, and we expect around 500 of them will attend. Wineries interested in promoting their wines at the conference should contact me at We have opportunities for meal sponsorships, wine tasting sessions and pouring at our grand tasting – all great opportunities to connect directly with avid wine consumers."

The 2013 National Conference kicks off with an opening reception on Nov. 7, followed by two days of informative wine tasting and food pairing sessions with leading personalities and wines from top regions throughout the wine world. The days are punctuated by wine-pairing meals, including a sparkling wine brunch and grand banquet, and excursions into wine country. The complete agenda will be announced this summer.

"As we like to think that Kalahari Resorts is as well known for its exceptional food and beverage programs as it is for its unique African-themed conference facilities, we're thrilled with the American Wine Society's selection of our resort for their national conference in November," said Todd Nelson, owner and president. "Kalahari Resort & Convention Center – Sandusky has a great deal to offer both in on-site and regional amenities. It is the perfect place for attendees to learn about new trends in the wine industry, share great wines and make new memories."

The American Wine Society's Commercial and Amateur Wine Competitions will be held in conjunction with the conference. The organization's Wine Judge Certification Program, the only one in the world, will also be held in conjunction with the event.
