Historic Vineyard Brings an Eclectic Luxury Experience to Downtown Napa

NAPA VALLEY, January 2019 — Mayacamas, the historic winery located atop Mount Veeder, is excited to bring its legendary winery experience to downtown Napa with a one-of-a-kind retail concept and tasting salon, Mayacamas. The first urban tasting room from the mountaintop winery is a unique, luxury destination in the heart of the Napa Valley community, giving neighbors and tourists access to a completely new perspective on the Mayacamas brand. The impeccable, yet eclectically designed multi-use space is comprised of a wine boutique, sidewalk patio and private tasting salon, which will open to the public in early 2019.

“We are thrilled to have this new location to further bring Mayacamas to the people of Napa Valley,” said Mayacamas owner Jay Schottenstein. “The revival of the downtown area is certainly something that we are eager to be a part of, alongside the many burgeoning businesses. Mayacamas is not just another place to taste great wine, it is an experience that people will enjoy and want to return back to.”

Mayacamas, located at 1256 First Street, will put a spotlight on the quintessential Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Merlot, as well as a curated selection of rare, older vintages to be savored in an artful space. Renowned Napa Valley interior designer Erin Martin was commissioned to design the 1,300 square foot space, drawing inspiration from Mayacamas’ rich heritage and modern approach to the future. The accessible and social atmosphere will offer current releases and a rotating selection of library wines for tasting and purchase complemented by high-end, locally sourced and bespoke retail items including leather goods, jewelry, cutlery and glassware, whimsical artwork and more.

With the resurgence of the traditional winemaking techniques in Napa, Mayacamas, which is a brand rooted in this style, is proving that classic is yet again current. The space is representative of the Mayacamas lifestyle which is elevated, authentic to its core with an eclectic soul. Floating fixtures, custom lighting and textural surfaces will lay the foundation for where patrons can enjoy wine by the glass, bottle or flights in the open air patio or host an intimate experience in the enclosed private tasting room.

“I am excited to be partnering with Mayacamas on a new shopping experience in the Napa Valley. We are preserving the brand’s rich history while adding our own unique twist, with limited edition pieces set in a special jewelry box atmosphere. This way there will always be something new to discover!” Erin Martin, Designer
Mayacamas will be open five days a week from Wednesday through Sunday with times including 10am – 8pm Thursday, Friday and Saturday and 10am – 7pm on Wednesday and Sunday. Tastings will begin at $50. For more information, please visit

Founded in 1889, Mayacamas stands as one of the most storied vineyards and winery operations in Napa Valley, CA, located high on the slopes of Mount Veeder. Since the 1950’s the vinification of Mayacamas wines has remained remarkably consistent with a continued commitment to employ classical techniques and tools that are integral to the character of the Mayacamas brand and product. In July 2013, Mayacamas was purchased by the Jay Schottenstein family, marking the beginning of a bright new era at Mayacamas. The Schottenstein’s will continue the Mayacamas legacy and distinguished 125 year history while simultaneously moving the brand into the future. Through meticulous restoration of the winery, a renewed focus on the details of great farming and winemaking and employing a highly skilled team including Winemaker Braiden Albrecht under the tutelage of Andy Erickson – one of the most accomplished winemakers of his generation, and Phil Coturri – renowned organic viticulturist, to oversee the process of replanting the vineyards and regenerating the soils; their vision is coming to fruition.
