New Bleecker Kitchen & Co. to Open

The Finer Things Hospitality Group has announced the opening of Bleecker Kitchen & Co. at 643 Broadway on Thursday, December 12th.  The neighborhood American kitchen, whose name was inspired by area businesses that have established the Bleecker brand, moves into the space formerly occupied by The Corner Shop Café.  Executive Chef Steven Ferdinand has crafted a seasonally inspired American menu with approachable prices.  Bleecker Kitchen & Co. will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner with brunch on weekends, while a to-go counter will offer coffee and pastries to go.  A creative cocktail program will be offered by veteran mixologists Tim Cooper (GoldBar) and Justin Noel (1534) featuring innovative and stylish drinks.

Designed by Melissa Braiser and Nico Arze, the 60-seat restaurant offers a modern industrial style with vintage touches and an emphasis on handcraftsmanship.  Wood tabletops and a white marble bar highlight the barn-board clad and exposed brick walls. Vintage-inspired lighting from handcrafted steel pendant fixtures and old-world sconces create a warm, ambient atmosphere amid the high tin ceiling.  A focal point of the space is a vintage basketball court with vibrant colors that has been fashioned as a mural above the bar.  Black and gold accents are found throughout from the stained dining chairs to the storefront.  The space is surrounded by glass doors, which will bring the outdoors in during warmer months.

Executive Chef Steven Ferdinand comes to Bleecker Kitchen & Co. with several years of culinary experience at top tables. From his days on the west coast at Florio Café, where he garnered three stars from the San Francisco Chronicle, to his time in the kitchen with Marcus Samuelsson at Aquavit, his stint as Executive Chef at Le Zoo in the west village and his most recent position as Executive Chef at Sugar and Plumm, Ferdinand has developed his own culinary style.

Cocktails are crafted with care at Bleecker Kitchen & Co. Cooper and Noel’s cocktail program emphasizes American flavors and ingredients resulting in fresh and inviting concoctions.  A taste of the cocktail list includes: Apple Walnut with American brandy, apple cider, lemon juice, cinnamon, grade “b” maple and black walnut bitters ($13); Concord Mule with vodka, Meyer lemon juice, concord grape, ginger, thyme and club soda ($13); and Root & Rye with rye whiskey, Ithaca root beer, lemon juice, vanilla syrup, brandied cherries and Peychaud’s bitters ($13). A selection of New York based brews will be offered along with a boutique wine selection. Alcoholic coffee drinks will also be available.

Bleecker Kitchen & Co. will be open for lunch daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Dinner will be served daily from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Sunday, until 11 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, and until midnight on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.  Breakfast will also be offered in the coming weeks from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.  Brunch will be served on weekends from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.  The to-go counter will be open daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
